چکیده

Methods and Results: We incorporated all published data on the effects of hypoxia on the late Na current (INa-L), the fast Na current (INa), the basal L-type Ca 2 channel current (ICa-L), and the slow (IKs) and rapid components of the delayed rectifier K -current (IKr) in the absence and presence of -adrenergic receptor ( -AR) stimulation into the Luo–Rudy model of the action potential. Hypoxia alone had little effect on the action

Contributions of ion channel currents to ventricular action potential changes and induction of early afterdepolarizations during acute hypoxia.

RATIONALE Variability in delivery of oxygen can lead to electric instability in the myocardium and the generation of arrhythmias. In addition ischemic heart disease and angina are associated with an increase in circulating catecholamines that further increases the risk of developing ventricular tachyarrhythmias. OBJECTIVE We investigated the net effects of acute hypoxia and catecholamines on ...

Electrophysiological study of amygdale-induced changes in the excitability of CA1 hippocampal pyramidal neurons in male adult rats

Introduction: Many studies have shown that amygdala kindling produces synaptic potentiation by induction of changes in the neuronal electrophysiological properties and inward currents both in epileptic focus and in the areas which are in connection with the epileptic focus and have important role in seizure development and progression such as hippocampal CA1 region. However, cellular mechani...

When Does Spontaneous Sarcoplasmic Reticulum Ca Release Cause a Triggered Arrhythmia? Cellular Versus Tissue Requirements

Ventricular arrhythmias are a major cause of sudden premature death in patients with ischemic heart disease, hypertrophy, and congestive heart failure. The processes that initiate these arrhythmias include reentry, abnormal automaticity, and triggered activity.1,2 In the past three decades, there has been substantial investigation into each of these processes.3,4 This discussion will focus on t...

Cell Model of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia Reveals Early and Delayed Afterdepolarizations

BACKGROUND Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) provide means to study the pathophysiology of genetic disorders. Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) is a malignant inherited ion channel disorder predominantly caused by mutations in the cardiac ryanodine receptor (RyR2). In this study the cellular characteristics of CPVT are investigated and whether the electrophysiolog...

Alterations in electrical activity and membrane currents induced by intracellular oxygen-derived free radical stress in guinea pig ventricular myocytes.

Oxygen-derived free radicals (O-Rs) are thought to induce alterations in cardiac electrical activity; however, the underlying membrane ionic currents affected by O-Rs and the mechanisms by which O-Rs induce their effects on ion channels in the heart are not well defined. In this study, we investigated the time-dependent changes in resting membrane potential and action potential configuration an...
